What is monitor? |
Hello friends how are you all? Today we will learn about the
monitor in this post. Monitor or screen which is the main device of any computer.
We can detect any activity happening in the computer only through the monitor.
It is not possible to use a computer without a monitor. When the computer was
invented, at that time there were not so many developed computer monitors as we
have available in today's time, today we have many types of monitors which are
used to do different work. Example: - LCD LED etc. Earlier monitors were made
by fluorescent screen and Cathode Ray Tube (CRT) but in today's time flat-panel
display technology is used in making monitors which are small and cheap in
size.
Monitor’s history
The first computer monitor CRT was made in 1964 but it was
not so good.
Then in 1975, George Samuel Hurst created the first touch
screen display.
The LED monitor was created by James P. Mitchell in 1977.
Apple 2 was released in 1977. It was a color CRT display.
After this (IBM) released IBM8513.
Eizo Nano Eizo L66 was the first LCD computer monitor
Companies like IBM, Viewsonic, and Apple started making better quality
displays.
In today's time, computer monitors have become more
affordable and user friendly since 2017.
What is this monitor?
The monitor is a device through which we can see all the
activities happening in the computer. Monitor is an output device and looks
like a TV. It displays the output as a soft copy on the computer. Monitor is
one of the most important output devices and it is also called Visual Display
Unit (VDT).
Types of Monitors Based on the Colors Displayed by the Monitor
1) Monochrome: - This monitor displays the output in black
and white colors only. Its name mono means single and chrome means color, hence
it is also called single color display.
2) Gray-scale: - This monitor is also similar to a monochrome
monitor, it displays any type of display in gray shades, such monitor is used
mostly in laptops.
3) Color Monitors: - These come in the category of modern monitors.
Such monitors (RGB) display the output in the form of adjustment of
Red-Green-Blue radiations. There are some monitors which are capable of
displaying graphics in high resolution. According to the parity of computer
memory, such a monitor displays the output in the course from 16 to 16 lakhs.
Types of monitors
- (CRT) Monitors
- Flat Panel Monitor
- (LCD) Liquid Crystal Display
- (LED) Light Emitting Diode
1) CRT Monitors
CRT monitor is a general computer monitor which is most
commonly used. This output device is also called (VDU). Its main part is a cathode ray tube, it is commonly called a picture tube. Most monitors have a
picture tube element. This technique is called CRC. CRC technology provides
cheap and perfect color output. CRT Monitors are coding for phosphorus on the
screen, so as soon as the electron beam hits the screen, the pixels start
flashing and the image starts showing on the screen.
2) Flat Panel Monitor
This technique was developed after the (CRT) technology, in
which the chemical outgases are kept in a plate and it is used as a display.
And it's a very thin screen. Flat-panel monitors consume less electricity and
are lighter in weight. Work clarity is better than LCD out CRT. It uses Liquid
Crystal Display-LCD technology. This type of technology is mostly used in
laptops.
3) Liquid crystal display (LCD)
CRT Monitors were just like televisions in viewing. As the
technology developed, the monitor also changed its form, today CRT monitor has
been replaced by an LCD monitor. This monitor is very attractive to see because it
is thin and light in weight. A liquid crystal display is also called LCD. It is a
digital technology that creates a shape through a liquid crystal on a flat
surface. This work takes up space and work takes up energy. It is used for both
laptop and desktop screens.
4) Light Emitting Diode (LED)
The LED monitor is the most developed and latest form of
monitor. These are flat panel, or slightly curved displays, that use light
emitting diodes for backlighting, rather than cold cathode fluorescent CCFL
for backlighting. LED monitors use a lot of electricity compared to CRT and
LCD and are considered eco-friendly.
LED Monitor produces images with higher contrast. And work
through disposal has negative environmental impacts. These are more durable
than CRT and LCD monitors and have very slim designs. This work generates heat
while walking. But these monitors can be more expensive. Curved displays are
being released especially for high-end monitors.
Resolution
Resolution is an important quality of a monitor. It tells
the accuracy of the picture of the screen. In most display devices, the picture
is formed by the flashing of small dots on the screen.
Small dots are called pixels. The more pixels mean higher
the resolution. This means the image will be as clear for example: - If it is
640*480 then it means that the screen is made up of 640 dots (columns) and 480
dots (rows).
Refresh rate
The refresh rate increases the performance of the computer
monitor. The monitor continues to work, the image on the screen keeps getting
blurred from right to left and top to bottom. You can experience this only when
you click the screen. Or when the refresh rate is handy. The refresh rate in a
monitor is measured in hertz.
Dot pitch is a type of measurement technique. By this, what
is the horizontal distance between two pixels? It is also called phosphor
pitch. The dot pitch of a color monitor ranges from 0.15mm to 0.30mm.
Bit mapping
The monitors used in the past could only display text. And
their number of pixels was limited. The technology developed to develop
graphics can display both text and images. This is called bit mapping. In this
technique, each pixel of the bit map graphics is controlled by the operator. And
any shape can be drawn on the screen by the operator.
Interlocking and non-interlocking
This technique enhances the quality of the resolution of the
monitor. Interlocking monitors only refresh half the line at a time. This
monitor only displays more than two lines per refresh cycle. Its only drawback
was that its response time is slow. The resolution capacity of both types of
monitors is good. But non-interlocking monitors are better.
Video standard and display mode

2) Enhanced Graphics Adapter
3) Video Graphics Array
4) Extended Graphics Array
5) Super Video Graphics Array
Some questions related to computer monitor
1) What is a Monitor?
Monitor is an output device that displays the activities happening in the computer.
2) How many types of monitors are there?
There are mainly four types of monitors. CRT monitor, flat
panel monitor, liquid crystal display (LCD), light emitting diode (LED), etc.
3) Which is the best monitor for a computer?
It depends on what
work you do on the computer. If you are a normal computer user then you are
from 19inch to 24inch (led)
You can buy a
monitor. The resolution should be taken care of while taking the monitor.
4) Which company to buy the monitor?
If you want to do
it for a long time, then you should buy a monitor from Apple or Dell.
5) How to make Smart TV a computer?
For this, you need
an HDMI cable, which is considered the best way to send digital signals. Same
in
Both video and
audio signals can be sent through the cable. If your television doesn't have an
HDMI port, it's possible
That it has a
DVI-D port. In this case, you will need an HDMI to DVI-D converter cable.
6) How much is a good monitor?
For a good monitor,
you will have to spend 7 to 8 thousand rupees for work, then you buy a monitor
of Dell or HP
Will find
7) How many ports are there in the monitor?
Now the monitors
that come into the market have HDMI and DVI ports. But in some older monitors
whose use is no longer in vogue. VGA.
Conclusions
Today in this post we learned about a special output device
monitor of the computer. Monitor is an output device and is also called the visual display unit. The full form of CRT is the cathode ray tube. We hope that
after reading this post, you must have got to know a lot about the monitor and
you must have liked this post. If you have any questions in your mind then you
can ask in the comment box. And also share this post with your friends.
Thank you.
